CONTEMPORARY FUSION DANCE

Contemporary Fusion is a high-energy, full-bodied dance class that blends contemporary and modern dance with the groove and grounded feeling of street dance. You’ll move with strength and fluidity, keeping your center engaged while allowing your spine and hips to stay loose, covering space with circular and sequential movement that is also expansive. The class emphasizes extended lines and bouncy, swinging rhythms. By the end, everything comes together into a longer, dynamic combination.

This isn’t a freestyle class, but you’ll still have room to bring your own style and background to the choreography while embodying the teacher’s vision. For intermediate dancers and those with prior dance training.

Leaving the Comfort Zone: Dis-Tanzen Festival

Leaving the Comfort Zone is a two-faceted workshop. The choreographer shares about her experience and later guides the participants through choreographic processes of their own.

Before the pandemic, Giron worked for decades, creating work intended to shed light on social dysfunction. Isolation of being non-binary and violence against women are examples. During the pandemic, Giron realized the need for joyful art but had to find a new way of working.

Hear Giron’s experience and do choreographic exercises that challenge your personal comfort zone.

Participants are invited to bring a short phrase, as well as a current goal for working in a new way.
